Korean actor Hyun Bin, who recently enlisted in the Marines is now enjoying a 5-day break from training starting yesterday (April 23). He has successfully completed his mandatory basic training and attended his inauguration ceremony last Friday, April 22.
Contrary to recent news, he will formally begin his 21-month service after the break and will be dispatched not as a PR officer but as a combat soldier in Baengnyeong Island. The Marines have decided to put him into action after receiving comments from other citizens that they’re giving Hyun Bin (Kim Tae Pyung in real life) special treatment because he is a celebrity.
His discharge date is on December 6, 2012 and I’m feeling a little uneasy about this knowing right now the hostile situation between North and South Korea. Hopefully he’s enjoying his temporary freedom and I will pray that he’ll always be safe and healthy until his release from the Marines.
