[KDrama – City Hunter] An Introduction and Preview

One of the highly anticipated TV comeback for this year was that of Lee Min Ho whom we’ve last seen in the TV drama Personal Taste last year. He has chosen City Hunter as his comeback project which is based on a Japanese manga series and was made into a live action Hong Kong movie starring Jackie Chan. He’ll be starring opposite equally adorable Park Min Young whose last drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal was a big hit.

Synopsis

City Hunter’ is an original script based on the world-famous novel by Japan’s Tsukasa Hojo. Since it became public that Korea would be the first remake of this story into a drama, ‘City Hunter’ has been receiving worldwide attention. ‘City Hunter’ has switched the setting from Tokyo 1980 to Seoul 2011, and according to the original story structure, the protagonist becomes a city hunter and his character develops while resolving gratifying cases.

Lee Yoon Sung (Lee Min Ho) works at the Blue House’s National Communication Network Team and received his Ph.D at M.I.T. Kim Na Na (Park Min Young), a former judo athlete who works as a bodyguard for the President’s residence, the Blue House. Kim Na Na will eventually be involved in a love triangle with Lee Yoon Sung and prosecutor Lee Joon Hyuk (Kim Young Joo). The drama also marks Goo Ha Ra’s acting debut and she will play the role of the President’s daughter, Choi Da Hye.

Lee Min Ho as Lee Yoon Sung

– Lee Yoon Sung works at the Blue House’s National Communication Network Team and received his Ph.D at M.I.T. He was born on October 9, 1983, on the day of the Rangoon bombing. He was kidnapped by Lee Jin Pyo (played by Kim Sang Joong) and he grew up calling him father. He has undergone special training in the Golden Triangle, thus mastering survival skills to survive anywhere be it in the battlefield or desert.

 Park Min Young as Kim Na Na

– Kim Na Na is a former judo athlete who works as a bodyguard for the President’s residence, the Blue House. Kim Na Na will eventually be involved in a love triangle with Lee Yoon Sung and prosecutor Kim Young Joo (played by Lee Joon Hyuk). She lives in a shabby apartment near the Blue House with her dog and prefers wearing jeans and t-shirt or her black suit than dressing up.


Lee Joon Hyuk as Kim Young Joo

– Kim Young Joo is a prosecutor at Seoul district’s Prosecutor Special Forces. He possesses a deep sense of duty to uphold social justice. He views the opposing forces who threatens the Special Forces as his responsibility and believes that there are no boundaries when it comes to investigations that he would often clash with his boss because of his belief.


Hwang Sun Hee as Jin Soo Hee

– Jin Soo Hee is the director of a veterinary clinic near the Blue House and they take care of the President’s security watch dogs. She is cold, arrogant and unfriendly and often finds herself in the midst of an argument with her clients because of her attitude that’s why it was very hard for her to keep the clinic afloat.


Goo Ha Ra as Choi Da Hye

– Choi Da Hye is the President’s daughter. She is a delinquent who is re-taking her college entrance exam. Her only wish is for her father’s term to end immediately so she can get rid of her bodyguards and return to normal life going out with her friends and clubbing.
