[TRIVIA] Did You Know? A Korean Drama-Go-Round

It was Monday and I’m thinking of what article to post since I’m still waiting for the video previews from the Korean dramas I am watching to be posted online when an idea struck me. My idea is to connect the actors and actresses from the 6 dramas I am currently watching namely Lie To Me, The Greatest Love, Miss Ripley, City Hunter, Romance Town and Baby-Faced Beauty.

I got the idea from the theory called Six Degrees of Separation authored by Frigyes Karinthy where it is believed that  everyone is on average approximately six steps away from any other person on Earth, so that a chain of, “a friend of a friend” statements can be made, on average, to connect any two people in six steps or fewer. The difference with my post is that I will connect or link the actors and actresses based on the TV dramas they’ve done and that I will be connecting them through one (1) person.

The person I chose as the key connector is Korean actress Yoon Eun Hye. The reason why I chose her is because she’s famous and have done a lot of dramas so the probability of her working with other celebrities is high. I chose to use the title Drama-Go-Round because the connection will start and end with her like a Merry-Go-Round. Let’s start!

Here’s how these celebrities are connected through their TV dramas:

Connection #1: Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Min Ho

Yoon Eun Hye made a cameo appearance in Lee Min Ho’s 2010 drama Personal Taste as his ex-girlfriend in episode 8.

Connection #2: Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young

Both are currently in the drama City Hunter which is based on a Japanese Manga novel.

Connection #3: Park Min Young and Micky Yoochun

They play the lead characters in the 2010 historical romance drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal who ends up falling in love with each other.

Connection #4: Micky Yoochun and Lee Da Hae

They currently play lovers in the dark drama Miss Ripley with Lee Da Hae torn between Micky Yoochun and Kim Seung Woo.

Connection #5: Lee Da Hae and Jung Gyu Woon

Now this totally surprised me. He played the role of  her deceased husband in the 2008 drama Robber whose cast includes actor Jang Hyuk.

Connection #6: Jung Gyu Woon and Sung Yu Ri

They’re currently paired as a couple in the Wednesday-Thursday romance-comedy Romance Town where Sung Yu Ri plays the role of a house maid who got rich by winning the lottery and Jung Gyu Woon playing her rich employer.

Connection #7: Sung Yu Ri and Kang Ji Hwan

Sung Yu Ri is Kang Ji Hwan’s love interest in the 2008 action-comedy-drama Hong Gil Dong.

Connection #8: Kang Ji Hwan and Ryu Jin

They worked together in the 2007 fusion drama-romance Capital Scandal.

Connection #9: Ryu Jin and Jang Na Ra

Their current romance drama Baby-Faced Beauty is doing well in the ratings game despite being pitted against other dramas like Lie To Me and Miss Ripley.

Connection #10: Jang Na Ra and Daniel Choi

They first bickered then fell in love with each other in the romance drama Baby-Faced Beauty.

Connection #11: Daniel Choi and Yoo In Na

They’re both part of the 2009 family drama High Kick Through the Roof Season 2. He is self-centered and worked in a hospital for 3 years while she wanted to be a singer but got scammed.

Connection #12: Yoo In Na and Cha Seung Won

Yoo In Na plays the role of Cha Seung Won’s ex-girlfriend and Gong Hyo Jin’s former band mate in the romance-comedy The Greatest Love.

Connection #13: Cha Seung Won and Gong Hyo Jin

One of the funniest and lovable couple I’ve seen in a drama. He is a superstar actor while she’s a has-been member of a disbanded girl group who eventually fell hard for each other. LOVELY!

Connection #14: Gong Hyo Jin and Hong Soo Hyun

They portrayed the role of stepsisters in the 2003 romance-comedy Sang Doo, Let’s Go To School. The cast includes Bi/Rain and Lee Dong Gun.

Connection #15: Hong Soo Hyun and Yoon Eun Hye

They play best friends turned rivals in love then friends again in the recently concluded romance-comedy drama Lie To Me whose cast include Kang Ji Hwan, Sung Joo and Jo Yoon Hee.

So my Drama-Go-Round starts and ends with actress Yoon Eun Hye. You can also try these and connect Yoon Eun Hye to other celebrities and see if you can do these in 6 or else connections.

  1. Really interesting. Thanks!🙂
I guess you know but for others: Karinthy Frigyes – the same name order as in Korea, Japan, China and so on.😉
